Court has found a Sarasota man guilty of human trafficking.

All six charges against 22-year-old Ronald McBride stem from a case from December.

Sarasota County calls it the first local case with a human trafficking conviction.

Capt. Corinne Stannish from the Sarasota Police Department describes the outcome as a victory on behalf of all victims of human trafficking.

She also describes prostitution as “the world’s oldest abuse story,” not the world’s oldest profession.

McBride receives his sentence in September.
