NerdWallet, a credit card & financial services promotion firm reached that conclusion about Sarasota after reivewing data from over 970 cities around the nation with populations under 100,000. The Herald-Tribune reports the study considered factors including the share of the population 65 and older, average home prices, health provider rankings from Medicare, median household income, joblessness, public transit access, and if social security benefits are taxed. NerdWallet says Sarasota’s a magnet for retirees because of its beaches and weather. and the state’s friendly tax code.
