New grades released for the Florida F-CAT tests are not looking good for a number of schools around the state and some on the Sun Coast. In Manatee County the number of schools earning an “A” rating dropped twenty-five percent, “B” schools even more. There are also now eleven “D” schools and one with an “F” grade. In Sarasota County, however, the report card looks a lot better. There, every public school in the system rated “A” or “B” with the exception of two schools that received “C” ratings. Some school officials say they aren’t surprised that a lot of grades dropped, due to new standards.
