The Government Finance Officers Association honored Sarasota County with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2012 budget. The award is the highest professional recognition in governmental budgeting by the association. Sarasota County met nationally recognized guidelines that assess how well a budget serves as a policy, financial and operations document, as well as a source for public information. Budget documents must be “proficient” in all four categories to receive the award. The county has now won the award for 22 consecutive years.
