Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix organizers have gotten most of the money they’ve asked for from Sarasota County. The herald-Tribune reports County Commissioners have decided to spend just over $81,000 in tourist development money on this years speed boat race set for July 6th. This is the 30th anniversary of the Grand Prix. A race spokesperson says participation in the event’s starting growing again after the recession, and they say they need more gear to accommodate boaters. Last years event had a $17-million impact on Saratoga County.
