Beaches and pools across Sarasota County are looking for lifeguards this summer after seeing a big decline in job applicants over the past few years.

To try and entice people to the water, the county has upped the hourly wage to $12 per hour.

Anyone interested must be able to swim 14 laps in the pool and have an active lifeguard certification, plus current CPR and first aid certification.

Applications are being accepted on the Sarasota County website.
