They’ll decide whether or not to buy $2,.1-million in electronic white boards from UK firm Promethean. The Herald-Tribune reports the FBI investigated Promethean in 2010 for allegedly giving gifts to school district officials who bought its products. after the then Sarasota County School Board approvedd a $13-million contract for the company’s ActivBoards. No charges came from that investigation. The district’s new contract adds 504 ActivPanels, on top of 420 they approved buying in December. These are replacements for the ActivBoards. The ActivBoards have gotten rave reviews from many in the Sarasota Classified Teachers Association, and the union has one in their office.
