The man accused of killing a miniature dachsund last August in Nokomis is scheduled for sentencing this afternoon in Sarasota County Circuit Court.

Investigators say 24-year old Stacy Glover told family members returning home last August that the dog they’d been keeping an eye on for a friend, Athena, had disappeared. Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies say surveillance video from the home told a different story, showing Glover tossing the animal outside, chasing it, punching it, then taking it inside. Minutes later, a Glover’s seen carrying the limp dog away from the home and returning without a few minutes later. The Herald-Tribune reports he pleaded no contest last month to felony aggravated cruelty to animals ands misdemeanor animal cruelty.
