The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office reports 38 suspected heroin overdoses over the last month.
Seven have resulted in deaths.
Over the last year, 132 overdoses have happened in Sarasota County.
Among those, it reports 17 deaths.
WWSB-TV has identified synthetic drugs mixing in with the heroin as a possible reason for the increase.
Deputies say that they have saved many lives thanks to Naloxone equipment.
