Proponents of “green” or energy-efficient projects may be getting a boost in Sarasota County. County Commissioners have approved a plan that would set up an energy economic zone in the county. The ordinance paves the way for implementation of a state plan adopted in 2009. The plan would provide financial incentives to attract companies that either operate in so-called “green” buildings, which make the best use of energy, or manufacture energy-efficient products such as solar panels.
