Sarasota’s seasoned citizens have a thing or two to teach their peers across the nation, according to a study on aging with dignity and independence. The first sharing will happen just after the New Year, when results of a 500-person survey of those coping with the challenges of aging gracefully are released. Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence,t he group that spent the last year doing the survey, says there are six areas of concern – ageism, independence, transportation, aging in place, meaningful life involvement and health. The group hopes its report will be a catalyst for community discussions on those subjects.
