Even though it’s been raining on Southwest Florida, there’s still a fire risk. The storms themselves are p[art of the problem with high winds and sometime lightning. Fire crews from the state and North Port had to deal with a fire yesterday, and they have been checking it again today. A state wildfire mitigation specialist tells NBC2 because of the winds accompanying the rain they will be checking the are more often to be sure there’s no smoke or hot spots.
