Authorities say the human remains found earlier this month in the Pirate Harbor area of Punta Gorda are those of Danny Mordenti, who was reported missing in May 2008. The identification was made using dental records, and CCSO detectives have notified his family. Mordenti was 23 when his grandmother reported him missing May 23rd 2008. Investigators searched the area, and a bloodhound lost Mordenti’s trail about a mile from her home. The Medical Examiner’s Office is continuing forensic testing on the remains.
