At latest check, Punta Gorda police are still looking for a black GMC pickup truck that fled a traffic stop yesterday morning. Officers had stopped the truck in the Winn-Dixie parking lot on Bermont Road for a license plate issue but found that the vehicle was stolen from Lee County. The truck was last seen traveling west on Edgewater Drive from U.S. 41. Police broke off their pursuit due to the truck’s wreckless escape.
