A crash killed a Punta Gorda man yesterday.
The highway patrol says 46-year-old Wayne McMahon died in a collision on Route 41.
The patrol claims McMahon drove southbound as he approached a slower vehicle from behind.
He apparently tried passing, but he lost and overcorrected before hitting a tree.
The crash happened near Tuckers Grade, and it closed Route 41 for several hours in the morning.
