Punta Gorda could have a domestic partnership registry as early as March. ABC7 reports law being considered would allow domestic partners to be notified in case of an emergency, as well as allow hospital visits; and give each partner the authority to make life and death decisions, as well as funeral arrangements. Punta Gorda officials will be taking a look at how such registries have been handled in other communities, like Venice or Sarasota. City Council could se a final version of a proposed law by the end of next month.
