Punta Gorda’s Yellow Bike program loans bicycles to visitors for free; and it looks like it’s generating an upswing in tourism. Yellow Bike usage tripled in February compared with the same month in 2012, and the vast majority of riders were from out of state. The Englewood Sun reports it’s a sign the Yellow Bike program, which offers visitors an up close way to see Punta Gorda’s waterfront, is a big reason for the rise in tourism.
