Punta Gorda airport traffic is booming, up nearly 70 percent from this time last year. The airport says that more than 62,000 passengers passed through its terminal last month, marking the 25th-straight month of year-over-year growth, according to the airport authority. The airport has expanded its terminal to accommodate the growth, which has seen over 800,000 in the past 12 months, all from its lone carrier, Allegiant, which offers nonstop service to 28 cities from Punta Gorda.
