Punta Gorda Airport’s joining others across the country facing the loss of their air traffic control towers to funding cuts, in suing the FAA to stop them. Under the cuts, the tower at Punta Gorda’s closing April 21st. The Punta Gorda Airport Authority board approved joining the suit today. The airports plan to file in the U.S. Court of Appeals by Friday. The suit will alleges the closings of 149 contract tower operations, are arbitrary and capricious and violate the agency’s chief mandate, to ensure flight safety.
