Private hospitals in Sarasota County will no longer receive reimbursements for treating people who can’t pay their bills. A three-judge panel of the 2nd District Court of Appeals upheld a ruling that the 2003 law was unconstitutional. Sarasota Doctors Hospital, Englewood Community Hospital, and Venice HMA launched the suit in 2011 after the county refused to reimburse them.
