A Sarasota County man who was being taken to jail on drug charges is recovering from injuries today after he tried to jump out of a deputy’s moving car. The Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Brett Patton had been arrested on drug possession and trespassing charges. He was handcuffed but nonetheless managed to unfasten his seatbelt and get out the partially-open window of a deputy’s moving car – while being driven to jail. Patton didn’t get very far and was re-arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment.
