A Port Charlotte woman’s been busted for insurance fraud, after allegedly flooding her home and setting her kitchen ablaze on to collect the insurance. NBC2 reports Nancy Ameiva filed claims of $70,000, but they weren’t paid. Her insurance company had doubts, and called the state Financial Services Department. Their Insurance Fraud Division found out Ameiva had called her insurance company twice before the flood and fire for information on her coverage. Authorities say she forged paperwork to be reimbursed for living expenses while she was out of her home. She faces a max 5-years in prison.
