Another new name in the race for Charlotte County Sheriff. Forty-two-year-old Ed Pope, a former Florida State Trooper, announcing his candidacy for the Republican nomination. Pope has been name Florida State Trooper of the year several times and says he wants to be an active sheriff who communicates with the community. He joins Harold Osborn on the Republican primary ticket. Incumbent Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Cameron has not yet said whether he’ll run for re-election.
