Three people died in a plane crash yesterday after taking off from Sarasota.

The plane crashed near Kernersville, N.C. on its way to Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro.

The Beech A36 went down in the vicinty of the Vulcan Materials East Forsyth Quarry.

John McCollum from Forsyth County EMS tells the News & Record that the plane immediately went up in flames.

The airport’s executive director says the pilot tried making contact with the tower minutes before the crash.

How it all happened remains unclear. A preliminary report may surface next week.
