Telephone scams have returned to Southwest Florida. Investigators with the North Port Police Department say the targets are those who may be lonely going into this time of the year. The scammers pray on their victims’ emotions by claiming that a family member needs money. The victim is asked to provide the numbers or other personal information. You are reminded to never give out personal information on the phone. Should you receive a call from one of these scammers, hang up the phone. Then call authorities to report the call.
