A Punta Gorda woman faces charges after deputies say she tried to hit a neighbor with a sledgehammer handle and threatened to take their child. Witnesses told deputies 39-year old Sherry Goulding was riding a kid’s bike around the neighborhood Thursday, thinking her kids were lost, and was swinging a sledgehammer for some reason. When a neighbor confronted her, she threatened to take their child, according to deputies. Deputies arrested Goulding for aggravated assault. It’s not realy clear where her children were at the time.
