SARASOTA COUNTY- The number of pedestrians killed on roadways has reportedly declined both in Florida as well as here on the Suncoast.
According to a recent report from the Governor’s Highway Safety Association, Sarasota County had 10 reported traffic fatalities last year, down from 13 deaths in 2015. Charlotte County had only three deaths.
Statewide, Florida is one of just 15 states that saw a decrease in pedestrian fatalities. 636 pedestrians died in Florida in 2015. Florida, along with just three other states make up nearly half- 42 percent- of all pedestrian deaths nationwide.
