More people are shopping online for the holidays which means more gifts and packages are being delivered to homes and left on front steps. Several people in Charlotte County have become victims of this crime. The County Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure this holiday theft trend stops now.

The season of giving, for some, can also be the season of taking.

The trend is nationwide, and in Charlotte County, there have been several cases in the past few weeks. Delivery companies leave package which do not require a signature, and when homeowners check their doorstep, the gifts are nowhere to be found.

Lt. Brian Harrison of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said thieves are also following delivery trucks to see where shipments are being dropped off.
If you notice packages missing, contact local law enforcement.
