A woman died in last night’s crash on I-75 in Charlotte County, and her driver had serious injuries.

The collision happened on the southbound side four miles south of Exit 158.

The highway patrol says 48-year-old Frank Zaccone of Deerfield Beach tried changing lanes from right to left. A vehicle in the left lane almost hit his.

The patrol says Zaccone lost control of his vehicle and it veered onto the median. It overturned and stopped upright there.

A helicopter flew Zaccone to Lee Memorial Hospital. An ambulance took 51-year-old Judy Hanna of Deerfield Beach to Charlotte Regional Medical Center. Emergency room staff pronounced her dead.

Whether or not alcohol had anything to do with the crash remains unclear. Ironically, the patrol says Hanna wore a seatbelt and Zaccone did not.
