North Port Police say they have closed a dozen cases over the last year with two things that have not cost the city anything.
They have done all this with Facebook and Twitter.
The Herald-Tribune reports the department’s Facebook posts have led to the arrest of a felony child neglect suspect, the surrender of the suspected driver in a hit-and-run, and the safe return of a missing woman with dementia.
All of this has happened in the last month.
Now North Port has emerged as a national finalist in an award program that recognizes the use of social media by government agencies.
