An ongoing dispute between North Port property owners and the Sarasota County School District over land prices for a new school has seen the first round go to the district. A Circuit Court ruling by Judge Charles Roberts awarded an Order of Taking to the school district. That means it can go ahead with placing funds in escrow for purchase of the land based on its assessed worth. The fifteen property owners are seeking what they think is fair market value for the land, which is tabbed for a new North Port elementary school.
