North Port Police say the March 1st shooting death of 27-year old Christopher Hayes was a “justifiable homicide”. NBC2 reports police say Hayes was shot after he forced his way into a home in the 6000 block of Deming Avenue with the intent of committing a home invasion robbery. Investigators have determined that the resident legally shot Hayes and then called police to tell them what happened. The department reports says Hayes knew the residents, and one of them, a woman, recently ended her relationship with him.
