Bond’s been set at $200,000 bond for North Port Police officer Melanie Turner. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s office says she’s charged with sexual battery and false imprisonment. She and fellow officer Ricky Urbina were under investigation for the alleged sexual assault of a woman at a party earlier this month. Urbina was supposed to surrender himself on the same charges yesterday, but authorities say he took his own life.
