A Telephone Town Hall meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 and will offer local residents of Sarasota County’s largest city the opportunity to directly communicate with Vice Mayor Jim Blucher without leaving their homes.

A recorded phone call was released earlier this evening to notify people of the upcoming Telephone Town Hall meeting. The City apologizes if there was any confusion with the message. To be clear, the Telephone Town Hall meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013.

This is the second in a series of five Telephone Town Hall meetings that are being scheduled this year. On the selected dates, residents with publicly listed phone numbers are called and provided instructions on how to participate. Residents who do not receive a phone call can call in themselves at 888-409-5380 anytime during the hour long forum or visit the City’s website at CityofNorthPort.com during the call to listen to a live stream.

During the first Telephone Town Hall meeting this year, which took place on April 4, 2013, more than 1,400 people participated in a call with Mayor Linda Yates.

This is the second consecutive year that City of North Port has hosted Telephone Town Hall meetings. At times last year, more than 1,000 residents were participating in a call with the City’s elected officials.

Additional Telephone Town Hall Meetings will be announced in the coming weeks. All Telephone Town Hall meetings will be hosted from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the designated dates.
