North Port has moved a measure forward that would limiti campaign donations to city commission candidates.
However, the measure has changed so that it would not begin until after elections this November.
The ordinance would reduce the maximum donation of $1,000 per candidate per election to $250.
Commissioner Cheryl Cook has pushed this idea. She says it limits the effect special interest groups have on city elections.
The Herald-Tribune reports a final vote on this matter takes place Apr. 26.
