They’re so loyal! North Port city employees are saving the city more than 160 thousand dollars in fiscal 2012.

The city commission voted 5-0 on Monday for the agreement. Through their three year, collective bargaining agreement, the employees, who are members of AFSCME will give up nearly 155 thousand dollars in wages this year, and save the city another 72 hundred dollars by not taking Columbus Day, October 12th in fiscal years 2012 and 2013 as a paid holiday. City officials said in a release that they were pleased with employees who were considerate enough to give something to help the city save money.
