Candidates hoping to land a pair of seats on the North Port City Commission in November gave voters their ideas as to how the city should run at a forum this week.

Current Seat 4 Commissioner Jill Luke- who’s running for Seat 5- said after serving on the board since May of last year, she learned about the nuances of city budgets, saying “Government is not a business, nor is a commissioner an employee — you have a lot to learn.”

Her challenger, 71-year old Peter Bartolotta, though, said a business-like approach is what the city needs.
Peter Emrich and Kevin Rouse are running for the Seat 4 spot.
