Prosecutors have decided not to file criminal assault charges against Melanie Turner, a former North Port Police officer accused of a sexually assaulting a woman at a wild party attended by several North Port officers in March. The Herald Tribune reports a State’s Attorney’s Office memo says Turner had a relationship with the alleged victim, and there was insufficient proof of the victim’s lack of consent. The memo also says during the party, Turner and the victim “flashed their breasts” to other party goers and both had had considerable amounts to drink.
