The rules soon change for kids in cars.
Starting Thursday, children ages four and five must sit in child safety seats or in booster seats.
Beyond age five, children can ride in cars with just seat belts, as long as they stand four feet nine inches tall.
The legislature passed all this during its last session to reduce child deaths.
