A developer’s asked Venice officials for approval of a mixed use development on 50-acres of under-developed land at the northeast corner of Laurel Road and Knights Trail east of I-75. The Herald-Tribune reports John Peshkin of Laurel Road Property, LLC plans to call the project “Portofino.” It’s expected to have 425,000 square feet of retail and office buildings and 650 single-family homes, villas, townhouses and assisted living facilities. The project won’t include pain management clinics, adult entertainment venues, utility plants, manufacturers and warehouses.
