Cheney Brothers, one of the largest food distributors in the country, broke ground on a $40-million distribution hub near Punta Gorda Airport off Piper Road today. NBC 2 reports the new facility, which should be open in the next 14 to 16-months is expected to mean 400 new jobs when it opens, and several hundred more in the next few years. A new road’s being built near the airport, and more businesses area expected to buy lots along it, hopefully bringing more jobs to Charlotte County.
