The 2013 Charlotte County Disaster Planning Guide, with an all-new fold-out evacuation zone map, is now available for residents to obtain at all public libraries, many government offices, the Cultural Center of Charlotte County and most houses of worship. This comprehensive guide contains life-saving information on a variety of subjects that will help residents develop a detailed family action plan for any emergency situation.
The Disaster Planning Guide covers a vast array of subjects and designed to guide residents through the evacuation process should evacuation be necessary. The Guide shows new evacuation zones by color and explains the new collar program. More than 9,400 brightly colored, vinyl markers were installed on stop-sign and street-sign posts throughout all unincorporated areas of Charlotte County. In addition, The Disaster Planning Guide includes “10 Ways to Prepare Now!” section. Other areas of the flyer include family disaster kit supplies, how to keep pets safe, how to protect your home and what to do after a disaster.
Residents are encouraged to prepared for the upcoming hurricane season by picking up a copy of this free publication today. Civic organizations, neighborhood groups, or churches can request copies for distribution to their members of the Disaster Planning Guide.
