Charlotte County leaders have approved a $1-million increase in funding for County Fire and EMS to add more ambulances and personnel to service an area that’s grown over 20% since 2005. WINK reports most of it will pay for two ambulances and 12 cross trained fire and ems personnel. Fire Chief Dennis DiDio says there have been far too many times when they have hit ‘condition red,’ where they have run out of resources to respond to emergencies. The two ambulances and personnel should be on the road by January.
