A mistrial narrowly averted in a Sun Coast murder case. Attorneys for 52-year-old David Price of North Port moved for a mistrial and the judge agreed they had a point. The judge saying the State’s Attorney’s Office inexcusably avoided a pretrial conference at which several taped interviews between Price and detectives were supposed to be removed from evidence. Instead, they were played for jurors. Rather than ruling a mistrial, the judge allowed prosecutors to remove the offending recordings. Price is accused of killing David Casper in a drug deal gone bad in 2009.
