A tragic accident occured on Thanksgiving Day as a 46-year-old driver, Michael Burke Risley of Englewood, operating an SUV, collided with and fatally injured a 19-year-old motorcyclist.

The incident occurred on Thursday around 6:54 p.m. when Risley, heading northbound on State Road 776, was approaching the intersection of 1st Avenue. Simultaneously, the 19-year-old motorcyclist was traveling southbound on SR-776, nearing the same intersection.

Risley executed a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcyclist, resulting in a collision between the front of the motorcycle and the front right side of the SUV.

Tragically, the young motorcyclist lost his life, and he was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Following the incident, Risley was taken into custody and arrested on charges of DUI manslaughter. Subsequently, he was booked into the Sarasota County Jail.
