Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man involved in a strong-armed robbery that occurred Saturday morning outside a local business. Julius White reports

At about 11:00 am on Saturday November 7, the victim reported that a man had dragged him out of the Metro PCS store, located at 2586 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. Once the man had the victim outside the store, the man allegedly grabbed the victim’s cell phone from him, twisted the phone and threw it on the ground, breaking it.

The man was described as being a Black male, about 6 ft. tall, weighing between 180 and 190 pounds with a muscular build. His hair was done in cornrows with pig tails in the back. He had gold front teeth and a goatee.

After breaking the phone, the man left the area driving an older model gold four-door sedan with tinted windows. The vehicle was described as looking like a late 90’s or early 2000 model similar to a Honda.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man or the vehicle is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101 (ask for district detectives), or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
