(Englewood) The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit arrested a DeSoto County man Tuesday evening on a warrant for Armed Carjacking.
The Marine Unit was in the area of Gasparilla Bay around 5:00 pm on Tuesday June 4 conducting random boat inspections. The deputies stopped a vessel for a safety check and, upon checking the boat’s occupants, found that Larry Anthony Polk, 27, of 4347 SW Jasmine Avenue in Nocatee, had an outstanding warrant out of DeSoto County for Armed Carjacking.
Polk was taken into custody and transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he was held without bond.
The Marine Patrol Unit regularly patrols the county’s miles of waterways with the use of five different boats. They frequently conduct safety inspections and are available to respond to boating emergencies.
