Plans by Charlotte and Sarasota counties to improve access to Manasota Key and its beaches has some Englewood residents a little on edge…..

Sarasota County’s just forked out $2 million for a home that’s on almost 2-acres next to Blind Pass Beach, to increase public access to the Gulf of Mexico.  Not far from there, Charlotte County’s gearing up for the 80,000 plus they’re hoping will be here next April for the Super Boat Grand Prix Race.  ABC7 reports both developments have Key residents worried.  Especially the Super Boat race, with Charlotte County expected to bring in bleachers and other stands for spectators, as well as the buses to shuttle people between the beach and their hotels.   Charlotte County’s gotten bids from residents who want to sell their beachfront property, but haven’t said anything about buying any of them.
