A 54-year-old Hialeah man is in the Charlotte County Jail charged with misusing the 911 county’s system. A CCSO deputy responding to a report of a vehicle accident with injuries found an uninjured Jose Vazquez near the intersection of Cortland Avenue and Tinker Street in Port Charlotte. The 911 call about the accident said a stop sign had been taken out and the caller had been run over by a vehicle. The deputy asked Vazquez if he’d been injured. He said no, and that he needed a taxi and wanted the deputy to get there quickly. Vazquez is being held on $1,000 bond.
