A man arrested at an Englewood mobile home park Friday night claimed he was a police officer, but a records search determined he was not. Charlotte County sheriff’s deputies say Matthew Scott Depredo was driving an unmarked Ford Crown Victoria around the park with emergency blue and red lights and siren on. When he was stopped, Depredo identified himself as a Pennsylvania State Police, and provided a badge and concealed weapons permit along with his state driver’s license. His car was decked out as a police cruiser, with red and blue lights, a siren and a spotlight mounted on the driver’s side of the windshield. A call to Pennsylvania found Depredo was not, and has never been, an officer there.
